Resorts and Excursions

Two resorts nearby:

Tigaki
This lovely bay has a white sandy beach that shelves gently into the blue waters of the Aegean Sea. Facilities are excellent here and there are plenty of tavernas on and near the beach. If you want to escape the crowds on the main stretch of the beach, walk a short distance further, past the Salt Lake (in the summer completely dried up) for some much more secluded beaches.

Marmari
Marmari is a peaceful resort ideal for those seeking quieter location hidden away from the more lively resorts of Kos. Although there are more than adequate amenities, including water sports, tavernas and restaurants, the atmosphere is quiet, definitely a positive quality if that’s what you are looking for!

Recommended excursions:

1. Nissyros, the ''Volcano Island''
This volcanic island is only eight miles away from Kos. The visitor boats arrive at Mandraki harbour – a pretty place with its traditional white and blue houses and picturesque streets. While in Mandraki, it is worth to explore the fascinating little church that overlooks the sea - it plays an important role in the life of the island and villagers still worship here as they have for the past centuries.

2. Kalymnos and Pserimos
These two islands are normally visited together. The morning is spent on Kalymnos and the afternoon lazing on a perfect beach on Pserimos. The harbour at Kalymnos is a busy, ''non-touristy'' Greek town where you can learn the fascinating history of sponge diving and, for a small charge, visit the Maritime Museum on the harbour front. Once in Kalymnos, you will have to buy the deep-water natural sponges - it is a must!
